The Be Awesome Festival Melbourne pilot on Saturday 28 January 2017, was one day of full-on energy, excitement and play where ten, 8-10 year old participants explored a network of physical challenges and magical spaces that helped them to discover their inner awesomeness.
The festival pilot featured five individual and group, experiential challenges designed to embody the top five lessons identified from a public poll run by Be Awesome in November 2016:
- How to love and validate yourself without needing to please others,
- How to be empathetic and see things from others’ point of view,
- How to embrace failure to become more resilient,
- How to dream big and dare to be different
- How to trust yourself and trust you have the inner resources to face life’s challenges
The Be Awesome Festival Dream Team is made up of a diverse and passionate group of volunteers combining skills and experience in social work, psychology, teaching, design, personal growth, and coaching among other things. The group was drawn together to create this festival pilot based on a shared vision and personal values to make a positive impact on the next generation.
Here is what a parent of a participant from the Be Awesome Festival pilot had to say about the experience:
A wonderful event with incredible people whose sole purpose is to create an awesome, uplifting, challenging and safe learning experience that your child / children will remember and benefit from forever. Thank you Christian and the Be Awesome Dream Team. (Kylie Brown, mother of Oliver).
